Oman to welcome first waterpark soon

WTTEN-The OMR 40 million waterpark – Majarat Oman – will soon open its doors to welcome over 1,200 visitors daily.

Another water park has also been announced in in Salalah which will be completed by 2017 and will accommodate 500 visitors daily. The construction of additional three water parks was also recently announced by the tourism minister Ahmad Al Meherzi, as reported in Gulf News. A recreational city is also set to be built in Seeb province as per the report.

The new projects are expected to boost finances for Oman. Yousuf Al Balushi, a member at the Economic Committee at Oman’s Advisory Council and representative of Shinas province in the council, encourages other private companies to invest in such projects in all governorates.

Alongside the announcement, Ahmed Al Meherzi, minister of tourism said that total investments expected for the tourism sector during upcoming years exceed OMR one billion, according to Oman News Agency (ONA), by 2020, Oman hopes to have over 20,000 rooms in various three to five star categories in Oman. In 25 years, it hopes to have 50,000 rooms available.
